Psalm 98

The Lord will come again to the earth, but this time as Judge and King.

Advent Reflection

The arrival of a judge is usually considered to be a sobering affair. Justice and punishment will be handed out, sentences confirmed or commuted, and everyone waiting to be judged sitting nervously waiting to hear their fate. But this judge is greeted with shouts of joy, music and dance. Why the difference? Because all the evils of the world will be put right, and the penalty once hanging over us has been taken by Jesus. His Second Coming will fill his Body—the Church—with joy, as she is purified and made holy, and all sorrow is ended.

Advent Prayer

Pray that we would be generous to those in need this Advent season. Pray for opportunities to practice reconciliation and forgiveness because God has reconciled us to himself.
