The grasshopper **GUEST POST**

10 Since you have kept my command to endure patiently, I will also keep you from the hour of trial that is going to come on the whole world to test the inhabitants of the earth. Revelation 3:10

Once on the way to work as I drove down the highway I noticed a grasshopper just under my window guard. He was holding on for dear life.

I slowed down for a red light and was hoping he would drop off or get to a better spot under the guard. The light turned before I got to it and traffic sped up. There were a couple of drivers acting rather aggressive to each other and so I let my attention get more on my driving and momentarily forgot the grasshopper.

The two drivers were in front of me for about a mile and a half and one finally turned off and the other kept going, rather fast too. It was nice to have a peaceful drive again as I was finally getting near work.

As I settled back into peaceful driving and was able to relax my guard a bit I glanced back to my side window. There clung the grasshopper. He had dropped down onto the window and was missing a back leg and holding on by only three.

My heart broke for him and I checked all around me for traffic and was thinking about whether I could lower the window and help him in when off he flew. He had held on as long as he could.

I'd like to think he floated off to a patch of grass and was able to land safely and is still eating whatever grasshoppers eat and living a long life.

The truth is he probably hit something or at best died on impact with the street. But the fantasy is nicer to think about.

God watches us hold onto life. He watches us bounce from one tragedy to another, from one trial to another to one life harrowing experience to another. He watches and waits for us to allow Him to open the window and bring us to safety.

He wants to hold us in His hands and our lives in His will and power but He only does it when we choose Jesus. We'd like to think old uncle Bob or aunt Mary are in Heaven watching us and maybe even floating on a cloud or even standing beside us to comfort us and keep us safe. That is about as real as my fantasy over the grasshopper.

The truth is God has us when we are His, when we are His we go to Heaven and if we never do we never do. But for those of us who do He is faithful. For those of us who do it won't matter how many windows we end up holding onto, no matter how many trials we may face, no matter how big our Goliath is, He has us and will bring us home.

Thank you God for loving me. Thank you God for saving me.

May I live a life that honors you and will lead others to you.

me n' God love ya
