A prayer guide for Selah Memphis:
In a season where we are praying and preparing to launch a new church, we know that many will want to pray and give to support. Below you will find ways to pray.
1. Pray for all members of Selah Memphis to be of one heart and mind in all we say and do. (John 17:20-23)
2. Ask that together we would come to a greater understanding of God's love for us. (Ephesians 3:16-20).
3. Pray that God would provide everything we need to be the church He wants us to be, bringing us people, resources, opportunities and relationships to change this city for good. (James 1:17,18).
4. Pray for each member of Selah Memphis to move at the pace God has for them. That we would walk in trust and obedience, not too fast or too slow. (Galatians 5:16-26).
5. Ask that, in our time together, each member belongs. That each and every person feels loved, important, accepted and desired. That we grow in our ability to truly love one another. (John 13:34,35).
6. Pray for our rest. That we work and operate in His strength and not our own. We trust His guidance through His Word, His Spirit, and His people. (Hebrews 4).
7. Pray for the life of Selah Memphis to deeply affect the city of Memphis. That God would bring love, peace, healing, and hope through us to our city. That Jesus would have great fame from our collective words, actions, and love. (John 12:32).
8. Pray that our one and ongoing focus is Jesus. In our times of worship, our prayer, our teaching, and our time together are all centered around Jesus. (Psalm 24).
9. Pray that Selah Memphis is a safe place for transparency. That all feel safe to be themselves, be open and honest. A place where the real Jesus meets the real you and the real me. (2 Corinthians 3:17,18).
10. Ask that in all things, we trust in Jesus. Whether life is good or everything is going sideways, pray that we always trust Jesus to guide us in love and wisdom. (John 10:10).
11. Pray that we are open handed in all we have. That as a church we look to the needs of others, and that we partner with other churches to bring greater unity to our city. (Acts 2:42-47).
12. Above all, pray that God's character, love, and goodness are made famous in all that we do. That as we look to the needs of others above our own needs, that Jesus's name is made known throughout our city. (Philippians 2:6-12).
